This is Bob Kinnaird the artist.

I draw, I paint, and I make and create. I try to paint what I observe, simply because I am inspired by what I see. It’s all about capturing the light, there is nothing more satisfying than painting and sketching en plain air. Occasionally I allow myself a bit of imagination, simplifying the composition, colours and shapes to create a work that is on one hand recognizable, but at the same time not reality. I use a variety of mediums but more recently have really enjoyed using dry pastels. I try to do something creative most days.

I have always painted, but my main career was teaching outdoor sports, mainly in the Scottish Highlands and it is only more recently that I have become a more serious painter. I went back to art school in 2018 and spent a wonderful few months at Bridge House Arts, based in Ullapool. If I learned nothing else it was that art is a lifelong learning journey.

I generally exhibit my paintings in local and regional commercial galleries in the Scottish Highlands as well as various exhibitions in the Iona Gallery in Kingussie, run by the Society of Badenoch and Strathspey Artists. I try and post regular updates and artwork on both Instagram and Facebook.
